The LCS sediment management system offers a logistically optimized solution for continuous sediment removal – even under demanding topographical and ecological conditions.

Thanks to the LCS cable crane solution, rigid ground-based transport infrastructure can be eliminated for onward transport, minimizing interventions in the landscape and the environment.

The illustrated design, featuring two independent cable crane lines combined with a central transfer point, enables a high degree of operational flexibility. This creates a continuous, safe, and approval-friendly sediment logistics process.

Sediment transport process using a cable crane system

Step 1: Sediment extraction & containerization

Suction or floating dredgers transport sediment from the bottom of the reservoir to the surface and fill containers on a floating barge.

Step 2: First transport stage

The full container can be loaded from the barge at any point along the defined route of Line 1 and transported to the transfer point.

Step 3: Transfer & buffering

At the strategically positioned transfer point, the handover between the two lines takes place. Material can also be buffered here to ensure continuous operation.

Step 4: Second transport stage

Line 2 transports the containers to the final disposal site or to the downstream area – efficiently and with precise control.

Step 5: Discharge & return cycle

The containers are emptied at the defined location and returned to the barge in a closed-loop cycle – a sophisticated system for maximum efficiency.
