Material transportation

Cable crane systems for material transportation

Sometimes loads cannot be transported in the conventional way. In such cases, cable crane systems for material transportation provide a remedy.

  • Cable crane systems for material transportation consist of various components: one or two fixed track ropes, towers located along the track, a hauling rope, a winch or a circular drive and a crane unit. This is how cable crane systems for material transportation work: The crane unit moves on the track rope by releasing or alternatively by tightening the hauling rope either with the winch installed at the top or valley station or with the circular drive. The crane unit can lift the loads and transport them to any desired position along the track of the system. It is equipped with its own diesel engine and can be easily controlled by the loading and unloading personnel via remote control.

Stationary and curve-proof

  • A cable crane system is no rigid installation which course is predetermined in advance without exceptions. Rather, it is a dynamic cable crane installation. Curved cable crane systems correspond in their basic design to a stationary or a mobile material ropeway. The difference lies in the course of the track. Curved ropeways contain horizontal bends. They can be realised with up to a horizontal deflection of 45 degrees and with a track length of up to 3,000 m. Curve supports specially developed for curved cable crane systems are adapted to the respective angle of the rope course. This means that the curve supports can be optimally used for the desired track. Curved systems are mostly used in pipeline construction or in the construction of funicular railways.

Do you have heavy material that you cannot transport by conventional means?

We will show you what our cable crane systems can do.

Cable crane systems reasonably adjusted: manpower transportation

If the construction site is difficult to reach, material, construction machines and equipment are transported to site by a cable crane system. Additionally, workers need to be on site to operate and monitor the construction site. If they cannot reach their workplace by foot or helicopter, a cable crane system is a practicable option: Often the installation is the only possible access to the site. For this reason, our systems can be planned and adapted specifically for the purpose of limited manpower transportation.

Safety requirements

When people are transported with a cable crane system, additional country-specific safety standards must be considered and complied with. In order for a cable crane system to be approved for passenger or limited manpower transportation, it must meet certain technical requirements. It is therefore advisable to set these up at the start of the project – although a system can still qualify for manpower transportation at a later stage by adding the necessary safety features to the system.
