Our patented solution when it comes to enabling people to work safely in unstable, dangerous terrain.

If the terrain is unstable and/or entering the work area is life-threatening, then a solution is needed that allows workers safe access and safe working. This solution should enable movement within the work area, but evacuate personnel immediately in case of danger. Our new, revolutionary QXcrane system is exactly the right solution in such cases.

The challenge

Take, for example, maintenance and monitoring activities on tailings dams or a conventional dam in mining: For maintenance personnel, entering the work area for these activities can be life-threatening due to dam breaches or earth movements. Therefore, in order to be able to carry out this work, a personnel safety system is needed that allows safe access for maintenance personnel. However, the system should not be located and/or supported within this danger zone.

Based on these requirements, the available technologies and systems, we developed our innovative QXcrane system.

The two QXcrane systems make it possible to safely enter a terrain that until now could not be entered or could only be entered at great risk to life.
Workers entering the danger zone are secured to the operator’s basket by means of personal safety winches. The operator’s basket is connected to the towers, which are positioned outside the danger zone, by steel ropes and enables the worker to navigate and thus work safely within the defined area.
The system is operated by an operator in the basket. The operator in the basket can observe and monitor the entire working area and pull up and rescue workers in case of an emergency, such as a dam failure or earth movement. Workers on the ground can also activate this emergency function to be evacuated from the danger zone.

Maintenance personnel and the required material can be dropped off at any point within the defined terrain section. In this way, repairs, inspections and remediation work are carried out safely and efficiently in equal measure.

3-Dimensional

QXcrane System

Our new, patented QXcrane system is the perfect combination of cableway and SpiderCam. Ropeway systems are robust, their cables attached to high supports and capable of transporting high loads over distances of up to 3.0 km.

SpiderCams are mostly used in sports stadiums. They navigate in all 3 dimensions of space to deliver high-definition video or television footage without touching the ground.

This 3D technology perfectly combined with the cableway system increases the payload and the possibility to cover a larger area.

The QXcrane system consists of four towers, four winches and a operator’s basket. The towers are positioned in a rectangle (max. 1000 m diagonal) around the defined section of terrain.

The operator’s basket is connected to the four towers by steel ropes. This allows safe navigation in all 3 dimensions within the defined area.

The workers entering the danger zone are connected to the basket via personal safety winches. This gives them a certain freedom of movement, but they can be evacuated immediately in case of an emergency.

Tower head

The tower head has a deflection pulley that diverts the driving rope from the drive winch to the operator basket.

Travel winch

The intelligent control system enables movement in 3-dimensional space via the 4 travel winches located on the 4 tower bases.

Operator’s basket

The operator’s basket secures the personnel working in the field with the help of safety winches. It is also possible to transport material up to 500 kg.

Tower

Due to the modular design of the entire system, the tower height can be adapted to the respective terrain.

Tower head

The tower head has a deflection pulley that diverts the driving rope from the drive winch to the operator basket.

Travel winch

The intelligent control system enables movement in 3-dimensional space via the 4 travel winches located on the 4 tower bases.

Operator’s basket

The operator’s basket secures the personnel working in the field with the help of safety winches. It is also possible to transport material up to 500 kg.

Flexible

QXcrane-2D System

When work such as repairs, inspections or rehabilitation work needs to be done along a defined area in unstable terrain, our QXcrane-2D system is the perfect solution.

The system consists of 2 towers and a operator’s basket, which is attached to a cable crane. The motorised cable crane moves back and forth on a suspension cable between the two lattice mast towers.

The workers entering the danger zone are connected to the basket via personal safety winches. This allows them some freedom of movement, but they can be evacuated immediately in case of an emergency.
