Water reservoir dam Leibis Lichte

Cable crane system with spherical track for the construction of the water reservoir dam Leibis Lichte.

  • The water reservoir dam Leibis Lichte was constructed by means of two radial cable crane systems with spherical track of the company “Thyssenkrupp AG” in 2001. LCS took over the technology of cable crane systems for dam construction and distributes them exclusively worldwide.

The two radial cable crane systems for the construction of the water reservoir dam Leibis Lichte in Germany disposed of a spherical curved radial track that ideally adapted to the terrain and thus avoided massive rock and soil excavation. Due to the spherical curvature, the counter carriages were equipped with special climbing undercarriages that functioned according to the principle of a rack-and-pinion railway. The radial track was therefore equipped with a toothed rack in which pinions of the climbing undercarriage of the counter carriage engaged. As the inclination of the track constantly changed in its course, the counter carriages were equipped with a “straight holding device” for the pylon of the upper track rope deflection in order to ensure perfect guidance of the track rope. After completion of the dam the cable crane systems were dismantled and a complete reinstatement of the track and the fixed points were carried out.
