Paute Dam

The Paute Dam was constructed by the means of radial cable crane systems of the company “Thyssenkrupp AG” in 1978. In 2020 LCS took over the technology of cable crane systems for the construction of dams and distributes them exclusively worldwide.

The two radial cable crane systems for the Paute Dam in Ecuador had the special feature of a machine carriage, which is normally used for parallel cable crane systems. However, the unfavourable terrain conditions at the fixed point did not allow the usual arrangement of a fixed machine house with lifting and crab travel winch at the fixed point. Therefore, the lifting and crab travel winch are arranged in the machine carriage running on the radial track.
