Sea to Sky Gondola

Rescue winch installed in Canada for a cable car.

  • A rescue winch BGW1500 was installed at one of the towers of the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish, Canada. The cable car, which starts at sea level, overcomes a height difference of 885 m. It disposes of a security system to evacuate passengers from the individual cabins in case of an emergency. During the evacuation rescue personnel is lowered with the winch along the track rope to the affected cabins to execute the rescue. The simple, compact and safe BGW1500 promises absolute reliability – thanks to a pre-heating system the winch can be started up without any problems at very low temperatures – after all, the winch has to operate when there are incidents with the cable car.
