First part section of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline in Greece.

  • The TAP, Trans Adriatic Pipeline is an 870 km long pipeline, which transports natural gas from the Caspian region to Europe.

In order to construct a steep section of the TAP near Thessaloniki, Greece, the services of LCS Cable Cranes GmbH were demanded for a 580 m long section. With the help of a 12 to cable crane system the 48’’ pipes with a length of 18 were transported in the steep terrain, positioned and backfilled after the welding works have been finished. The system was also used to transport various construction material and equipment.

The special technical requirements of the cable crane system were the payload of 12 to in combination with a lifting and lowering height of up to 100 m. Due to many years of experience, LCS was able to observe the delivery period and the desired characteristics of the system without any problems.
